Today in sports: After win against Mount Sinai, SWR girls soccer takes on Center Moriches

One big game down. Another big game to go.

The Shoreham-Wading River girls soccer team knocked off Mount Sinai, 3-1, Tuesday afternoon at home behind goals by Kari Quinn, Victoria Creta and Logan Hoffman.

The Wildcats improved to 5-2 in League VII while the Mustangs fell to 4-2-1. In a heated race that features five teams all near the top of the league, the Wildcats face another tough challenge tonight when they travel to Center Moriches, the last unbeaten in the league. The Red Devils are 4-0-3, their last game a 5-0 shutout over Southampton.

Shoreham and Center Moriches face off under the lights at 7 p.m.

The teams opened the league season against each other Sept. 20 and Center Moriches prevailed 2-0.
