Featured Events: Learn new holiday appetizer recipes

JENNIFER GUSTAVSON PHOTO | The Mattituck-Laurel Library will host a cooking class tonight.

Need some quick and easy appetizer ideas for your holiday party? Then visit the Mattituck-Laurel Library on Main Road in Mattituck this evening at 7 p.m. to learn how to make simple, bite-size dishes.

Lisa Basini, owner of The Baking Coach, a Huntington-based company that holds cooking demonstrations across Long Island, said participants will learn four recipes.

The first two dishes — hot artichoke dip with crackers and a Mexican fiesta wrap — will be made and enjoyed at the library. The other two will also be made at the library, but participants will take them home to bake. Those dishes will be a ham, Swiss and Dijon roll made with biscuit dough and a vegetarian cream cheese and sun-dried tomato roll.

“Everybody will get a chance to make them,” Ms. Basini said. “I feel this is the best way to learn.”

If you’re interested in attending, register in advance by calling (631) 298-4134. The fee is $5 and all cooking supplies will be provided.
