Two arrested for DWI in the Riverside area Sunday

Two local men were charged with driving while intoxicated in two separate incidents in the Flanders and Riverside areas early Sunday, authorities said.

Gregorio Vasquez, 50, of Flanders was stopped by Southampton Town Police for driving on the shoulder of Flanders Road just before 3 a.m. and found to be inoxicated, police said. He was charged with DWI. Police did not specify the hamlet where the arrest occurred.

About 30 minutes later, Rewie Kamita, 21, of Riverhead was stopped after he was observed driving on the curb near the traffic circle in Riverside, Southampton police said. He was also charged with DWI.

Both men were held overnight for an appearance in Southampton Town Justice Court.
