The word simpatico translates to “alike or like-minded,” and “We offer an Italian-influenced American cuisine,” say owners Mark and Diane Serrantino. “Against recommendations from friends and family, we named our restaurant phonetically to symbolize that although we are the same, we are clearly different.”

Lunchtime patrons can start with sweet potato bisque, baked littleneck clams oreganata, mirin-glazed fried calamari or Hogs Neck Bay oysters with bacon-leek sabayon and cherry balsamic vinegar, among many choices. Salads include roast pear with baby arugula, candied pecans and goat cheese; chopped salad; or a classic caesar. Entrees include seafood pan stew, grilled 10-ounce Angus burger and avocado BLT with Texas toast and applewood-smoked bacon.

Among the restaurant’s signature dinner entrees are lamb shank osso buco, shrimp oreganata, gemelli with broccoli rabe and sausage and sesame-seared ahi tuna. Diners can finish with cannoli or New York-style cheesecake, among other desserts.
Sim-pah-ti-koh hosts local wine and beer tastings, pairings and dinners. There is happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. daily and live entertainment several nights a week. The restaurant offers both on- and off-premises catering, as well as private rooms for corporate functions, holiday parties and other events.
