Body found inside Riverhead barn; no foul play suspected

An unidentified dead body was discovered inside a barn located at the corner of routes 25 and 105 in Riverhead Tuesday, but Town Police say foul play is not suspected.

The body was discovered by an employee who was checking up on the building for the property owner, according to police, who added that it appeared the person had been sleeping inside the barn.

Police did not immediately say if the body, which was badly decomposed, was male or female.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office removed the body from the property and an autopsy is  pending, police said.
