Slide Show: Donkey rescue group brings burros out to play

Samantha Perry, Debbie Miller, Cathy Springer, Bernadette Deerkoski and her daughter Emily are a group of women who have given a better life to donkeys who might have otherwise been slated for slaughter.

They call themselves, naturally, the “East End Ass Whisperers.” The group brings the five Sicilian burros together every so often to play in what they call, tongue in cheek, an “ass-embly.”
