Featured Events: Free smoking cessation program in Riverhead

It might be too early to choose your New Year’s resolution, but if you’re planning to quit smoking — and want a head start — then visit the Riverhead Free Public Library tonight for a free smoking cessation program.

Suffolk County’s six-week program, called “Learn to be Tobacco Free,” helps smokers break their nicotine addiction through counseling and nicotine replacement therapy. The event starts at 6 p.m. For more information, call (631) 727-3228.

Here’s a few more events happening today:

Henna Designs with Eakta Ghandi, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library located on Main Road in Cutchogue. Learn about origins and traditions of henna and leave with henna tattoo. Grades 6 and up. To register, call (631) 734-6360.

Evening yoga classes, taught by Rosemary Martilotta at Mattituck-Laurel Library from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m and from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Combine postural alignment, conscious breathing, deep relaxation and energy awareness.  Bring yoga mat or towel. No need to register in advance, pay the first night of session. Cost is $60 for Mattituck and Laurel residents; $65 for out of district residents.
