SWR board to settle disciplinary charges with employee

The Shoreham-Wading River school board will vote at its Tuesday night meeting to settle pending disciplinary charges with an employee who was not named on an agenda posted on the district’s website.

The disciplinary charges include “misconduct, incompetence, conduct unbecoming and insubordination,” according to the agenda.

Vice president Michael Fucito declined om Tuesday morning to provide the employee’s name or further details of the charges.

The Riverhead News-Review has a pending FOIL request with the district seeking more information.

The board will also hear an update on the two capital improvement projects voters approved during this past May’s budget vote. One project, an underground fuel replacement, comes with a $825,000 price tag, and the other, a drainage improvement at Briarcliff Elementary School, will cost $66,000.

School officials said earlier this year that the projects would be covered by a portion of prior year’s state aid and would not raise school taxes.

The meeting is set for 8 p.m. in the Miller Avenue Elementary School library.
