Police: Former Riverside resident tried to rob Shirley pharmacy

A homeless man, whose last known address was in Riverside, was arrested for attempting to rob a Shirley pharmacy Tuesday, authorities said.

Suffolk County Police said 25-year-old Nicholas Lobianco, who once lived on Old Quogue Road, entered the Rite Aid pharmacy on Montauk Highway and handed the pharmacist a note demanding prescription medication about 3:45 p.m. Mr. Lobianco fled the scene on foot before the pharmacist could comply, police said.

Officers later found Mr. Lobianco hiding at a nearby motel. He was charged with third-degree robbery.

Mr. Lobianco was held overnight for an appearance in First District Court in Central Islip.
