The Weekend Guide: A rock art show, holiday bazaars and the ‘Superbone’

Want to see works of art by Jerry Garcia, Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix? Then visit the “EHM Rock Art Show” at Jedediah Hawkins Inn on South Jamesport Avenue in Jamesport this weekend. The show, sponsored by WEHM, will include pieces by rock stars, rock photographers and features the work of renowned Beatles animator Ron Campbell. Mr. Campbell will also make a special appearance. The show is free and is open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday. All works will be available for sale.

The Southold Dog Park will host ‘Superbone Football,’ from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. The park, located behind the town recreation center, has been hosting free monthly themed gatherings for town residents and their dogs. Rain date is Sunday.  Call 765-5182 for more information.

A fall bird walk will be held at Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead Saturday morning. Naturalist and birding expert Mary Laura Lamont will lead the tour through woods and fields and Hallock State Park Preserve. The event runs from 9 a.m. until noon and registration required. Call 298-5292 to register; fee is $6, $5 for members. Bring your binoculars, wear appropriate apparel and sturdy footwear. Heavy rain will cancel this event. All fees support Hallockville’s educational mission.

Several Holiday fairs are set for this weekend. Here is a list of some North Fork bazaars:

The Annual Christmas fair at Orient Congregational Church will be held Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be ornaments, decorations, a lunch counter, and unique gifts. Proceeds benefit the church’s mission, including John’s Place Homeless Shelter.

St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead will host its Holiday Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The church is located at 546 St. John’s Place, Riverhead.

An annual Holiday Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in fellowship hall at Riverhead United Methodist Church on East Main Street Main Street. There will be baked goods, jewelry, crafts, and a white elephant table. Soup and sandwich lunch available for purchase at 11 a.m. Call 727-2327.

A church sale will be held at First Universalist Church parsonage in Southold this weekend. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be gently used items, jewelry, holiday décor and collectibles. Call 765-3494 for more information.

The Women of the Moose will host a breakfast from 9-11 a.m. at the Riverhead Moose Lodge on Madison St. Call 779-2694 for more information.
