Off Main Market & Kitchen owners Tahir and Kayleigh Baig say they wanted to open a place in their hometown where “people could buy local produce and local goods produced by local people.”

“I was a clerk at a gas station and worked for years in a grocery store, and I was tired of living someone else’s dream,” said Tahir. “I wanted to live my own.” Kayleigh was a sous chef at the Meadow Club in Southampton and studied at Suffolk County Community College’s Culinary Arts program in Riverhead. “She’s got the back-end of the business, the kitchen, and I’ve got the front end,” said Tahir.

Off Main features a hot menu at breakfast and lunch and offers daily homemade soups and sandwich specials using fresh, local products, plus a full line of Boar’s Head deli meats and imported cheeses. And if you’re hankering for something sweet, check out Off Main’s fresh-baked homemade cinnamon rolls.

The deli also sells fresh ground coffee, canned goods and dairy products. “Our goal is to appeal to everyone,” the owners say.

Off Main offers an enticing menu of cooked-to-order food, and customers can get entire meals to go.

Tahir said both he and his wife are “very personal, one-on-one,” noting that they are an alternative to big-box store grocery chains “where no one seems to care about the community.”
