Riverhead Blotter: Wading River teen arrested in connection with taxi driver robbery

A Wading River teenager was arrested this week in connection with robbing and assaulting a cab driver in Riverhead, according to police reports.

Tasheria Horsley, 16, was arrested Wednesday at town police headquarters for her alleged involvement in a Nov. 3 incident, during which a Moon Light Taxi driver was dropping a fare off near Delores Avenue about 8:30 p.m. when he was attacked inside the cab by a man and a woman. He called police soon after, but the two passengers had fled on foot before officers could arrive.

The man involved in the incident is still at-large, police said.

Ms. Horsley was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery. It was not clear what led police to believe Ms. Horsley was involved. She was released without bail after an appearance in town justice court.

• Someone stole $4,000 worth of tools from Long Island Truck Parts in Riverhead, according to town police. The theft was reported about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

• John Massaroni, no age or hometown given, was charged with criminal mischief after a 3 p.m. incident at the Hess Mart on Route 25A in Wading River Thursday.

• A 15-year-old male was charged at police headquarters with third-degree assault Tuesday. The arrest was made in connection with a Nov. 19 incident, police said. No further details were available.

• Bricks were reportedly thrown through the passenger side windows of two different cars in Riverhead Wednesday evening. The first report, which happened on Northern Parkway, occurred just before 7:30 p.m. and the second incident, which happened on Ackerly Street, occurred after 8:30 p.m.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
