Michael Anthony Maffetone

Michael Anthony Maffetone of Laurel died Feb. 11, 2012. He was 29 years old.

He was born on June 3, 1982, in Queens, N.Y. to Michael C. and Penny (née Sanfilippo) Maffetone and was a graduate of Mattituck High School, Class of 2000.

“Big Maff,” as he was known to his friends, was a JETS Fan who enjoyed music, his many friends on Facebook, and playing Words with Friends. He was especially fond of dogs, including his pit bulls Jynx and Stax.

Surviving are his parents, Michael and Penny, and his brother, Paul, all of Laurel; and his grandparents Michael and Joan Maffetone of Smithtown and Ruth Surgenor of Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his grandfather Anthony Sanfilippo of Ozone Park, Queens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 14,  from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services will be held  Thursday, Feb. 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Mattituck Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Gaffga.
