Cops: Woman drove drunk with 1-year-old in car

A Riverhead woman was arrested after she was caught driving drunk with a 1-year-old child in her car early Thursday morning, town police said.

Ranisha Pendleton, 28, was traveling westbound on Route 58 about 2:00 a.m. when she was stopped by police for not maintaining her lane, according to a police report. Cops said an investigation found Ms. Pendleton was intoxicated.

She was arrested for driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, a 2009 state law that makes it a felony to drive under the influence of alcohol with a child younger than 15-years-old in the car.

Ms. Pendleton was taken to police headquarters, processed, and held for morning arraignment, officials said.
