Richard Evans, known as Spence, died March 3 at his home in Riverhead. He was 81.
He was born April 16, 1930, in Brooklyn to Doris and Joseph Evans and worked as an oil burner technician at Burt’s Reliable in Southold.
Family members said he enjoyed watching wrestling and the Oakland Raiders play football.
Predeceased by his wife of over 25 years, Alice (née Sage), he is survived by two sons, two daughters and 11 grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation was private.
