Riverhead in photos — then and now

The First Congregational Church's current sanctuary seen in this undated photo (left) was built in 1909. The church is still in operation today, 177 years after it was first organized in 1834.

Happy birthday, Riverhead.

Officially founded March 13, 1792, the town of Riverhead turns 220 today.

To commemorate the milestone, the News-Review compiled old photos of Riverhead, courtesy of the Riverhead Free Library, and compared them to what it looks like today. Check out the slideshow below:
