Flanders man to be arraigned Monday for baseball bat beating

A 22-year-old Flanders man arrested by State Police in Riverside last October for hitting a man with a baseball bat will be arraigned on a grand jury indictment Monday.

Isidro DeLeon Galindo approached the 29-year-old man in the parking lot of the Valero gas station near the Flanders Road traffic circle in Riverside Oct. 22 and struck him in the face with a wooden baseball bat, according to State Police, who said the attack was the culmination of a lengthy disagreement between the pair.

The victim suffered cuts and facial swelling and was treated for his injuries at Peconic Bay Medical Center, according to police.

Mr. Galindo was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was indicted by a grand jury March 12, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

The arraignment will be before Judge Stephen Braslow Monday morning at 9:30 am.
