A two-car accident a few feet from Riverhead Town Hall sent a man to the hospital early Sunday afternoon.

The victim was driving a tan Toyota Camry when he hit a red Ford Cobra at the intersection of East Main Street and Howell Avenue about 12:45 p.m., police said, crushing in the hood of his car.

The man was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead ambulance volunteers with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford Cobra was uninjured and no other people were involved in the accident.

No charges or fines were imposed, police said. Tow trucks removed the two cars and cleared the scene by about 1:15 p.m.
