Riverhead firefighters extinguish another brush fire
The Riverhead Fire Department responded to yet another brush fire at about 4 p.m. Friday, which was extinguished in an undeveloped field in between Sports Authority and Harrison Avenue. The fire department put out a brush fire in that same area on Thursday.
Other brush fires were reported off Pleasure Drive in Flanders, prompting firefighters from four departments to respond and they remained on the scene until well into Friday afternoon, and by the Calverton Shooting Range.
On Thursday, brush fires were reported by Willow Pond Drive, north of Sound Avenue, and on Nugent Drive in Calverton. A dumpster fire was reported at the Fairfield Pines East apartment complex.
