Car crashes into front of Steve Madden store in Riverhead

A car crashed into the front door of the Steve Madden shoe store in Tanger II following a collision with another car Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. when a tan SUV heading north in the road inside Tanger II in Riverhead collided with a Toyota Camry that was heading west. The Camry then veered off and crashed into the front door of the store, according to Sgt. Tim Palmer of the Riverhead Police Department.

There were four people at in the SUV and three in Camry.

There were treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance personnel but declined to be taken to the hospital.

The SUV had minor damage and the Camry was towed away, with more severe damage.

The front door of the store was damaged but no one inside the store was injured, police said.
