Cops: Classic car stolen from Peconic River parking lot

BARBARAELLEN KOCH FILE PHOTO | Police are asking for the public's help in in locating a classic car that was reported stolen from the Peconic River parking lot in downtown Riverhead Monday.

A classic car was reported stolen from the Peconic River parking lot in downtown Riverhead on Monday, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release.

A white, 1965 Plymouth Belvedere four-door sedan was locked when parked in a stall Monday afternoon and left unattended for short period of time prior to its being reported stolen, police said.

The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., according to police.

Anyone having information concerning the investigation is asked to call police at (631) 727-4500 or write to: Riverhead Police Department, 200 Howell Avenue, Riverhead NY 11901, attention: detective’s division.

Police say all information will be kept confidential.
