Charles F. Edwards of Aquebogue and Calverton died May 3 at Southampton Hospital from injuries sustained that day in a motor vehicle accident. He was 56.
He was born in Riverhead Oct. 26, 1955, to Charles and Shirley Edwards, and married Susan Forbes there on April 30, 1977.
Mr. Edwards worked as a farmer, drove a tanker truck and then drove a delivery truck for Helen’s Greenhouses and Flower Farm in Aquebogue.
He seemed to know everyone wherever he went and could make anybody laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family and his German shepherds and enjoyed NASCAR and sports. He was a devoted dad who made it to every sports game his children played in.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife; his children, Charles Jr., Melissa and Laurie; his sisters, Shirley Doscinski, Jeane Rusewicz, Gail Edwards and Susan Edwards; his mother; his daughter-in-law, Stephanie; and his grandchildren, Emily and Charles James Edwards. He was predeceased by his father in 1994.
Visiting hours are set for Sunday, May 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, May 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, May 8, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Baiting Hollow Cemetery.
