Cops: Flanders man, wanted on a warrant, was drunk when he crashed car

A Flanders man wanted on a warrant was arrested after crashing his car while driving drunk in the hamlet Sunday, Southampton Town Police said.

Victor Paredes, 22, was wanted on an active bench warrant for a failure to appear in court on a previous charge.

Mr. Paredes had been arrested nearly three years ago for unlawfully dealing with a child and an open container violation after he was caught drinking in public with a 15-year-old in Flanders, according to a previously published News-Review report.

His latest arrest came after he crashed his 1994 Nissan on Brookhaven Avenue at about noon Sunday.

He was taken to Southampton Police headquarters and held overnight pending arraignment on a misdemeanor DWI charge, police said.
