Cabbie robbed at gunpoint in Flanders

A cab driver reported being robbed of over $200 at gunpoint by a flip-flop wearing passenger he dropped off on Flanders Road in Flanders last Sunday, June 17, Southampton Town police said.

The cabbie, employed by Island Wide Taxi, told police he picked the man up in Southampton Town and took him to Flanders, where the suspect pulled a small handgun on him and demanded money, police said.

The suspect got out of the cab at 764 Flanders Road, just west of WoodRoad Trail, and fled on foot in a southerly direction.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 30s, and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was wearing black pants, a brown sweatshirt and red flip-flops at the time of the robbery, the victim told investigators.
