Primp your pit bull for $20 at Kent

Kent Animal Shelter and PetSmart Charities are teaming up to help cut down on Long Island’s homeless pet population by offering discounted rates to have pit bulls spayed and neutered.

The “Primp Your Pitt (bull)” promotion aims to spay or neuter 120 pit bulls this August for just $20 each.

Each pet will also get a free nail trimming as part of the promotion.

The shelter said spaying or neutering pets is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population, especially pit bulls, which “end up in shelters in large numbers because of myths and negative media that impact public perceptions associated with the breed.”

The procedure is endorsed by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the shelter said, and can help improve a pet’s health.

“The ‘Primp Your Pit’ promotion helps you and your dog,” said Pam Green, executive director of Kent Animal Shelter. “Spaying/neutering a pet is the most effective thing a pet parent can do to prevent unwanted litters and ensure their pet lives a long, happy life.”

The special rate applies to all residents of Long Island. Pit bull owners who wish to take advantage of this offer must mention the “Primp Your Pit (bull)” promotion when they schedule an appointment.
