Riverhead bowling alley in the works on Route 25 will be like no other

The Riverhead bowling alley and entertainment complex that’s in its final stages of construction on Route 25 is being designed to reflect the rural and rustic nature of the North Fork, says co-owner and designer Christopher Smith.

The “industrial chic” structure contrasts metal against old barn siding, with wood used in the bowling alley coming from a barn from Ohio and another from New Jersey, Mr. Smith said.

“I wanted it to be reflective of the North Fork, thus the barn siding to soften up the industrial nature of the building,” Mr. Smith said. “I wanted to bring some warmth and texture to it.”

What Mr. Smith describes as a metal vortex hangs over what will be a small circular bar, just inside the business’ main entrance.

“We’re going to feed the beer lines down through it so the beer taps will hang from the vortex,” Mr. Smith explained. “Flat screen monitors will also hang from it.”

The bowling alley has 28 lanes installed, six of them in a separate room for private events. The dining area in the event space can seat up to 40 people and is adjacent to the site of the planned sports bar.

Chef Keith Luce of Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport is currently in negotiations to consult on the business’s food menu.

“It’s going to be American classics,” Mr. Smith said. “ Hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, mac and cheese, wings, calamari, grilled cheese, sandwiches, nachos and, of course, Mr. Luce’s signature duck wings.”

There’s also a wood-burning stove already in place that will be used to make pizzas.

If everything goes as planned, All Star Lanes could open for business at the end of the July or early August, Mr. Smith said.

The alley is currently open all day for the acceptance of job applications for bartenders, servers, managers, security, bowling mechanics, runners, bar backs, cooks and kitchen staff while the construction crew presses forward, preparing for opening day.

“We’re looking for everybody,” he said.
