Assault leaves two wounded in Riverhead

One man was stabbed and a woman was struck with a blunt object during an assault in Riverhead Wednesday night, Riverhead police said.

Police responded for an assault in progress call about 8:45 p.m. at East Main Street and Howell Avenue, where they found Michael Booker, 26, of East Quogue with what appeared to be a stab wound to the side, as well as Latrice Carter, 24, who was bleeding from a head laceration after she was struck with something.

Both were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment.

Police are asking anyone with information call the police department at 727-4500.
