Robert J. Zurawski of Jamesport died suddenly on August 19, 2012. He was 56 years old.
Born in Bay Shore on October 20, 1955, to Ruth Mae (Danowski) and Edward W. Zurawski Sr., he was a graduate of Riverhead High School.
On April 7, 1991, he married Deborah Teresko and together they made their home in Jamesport. For many years he worked at Bejay’s Automotive in Riverhead and was also a mechanic.
In his free time, he enjoyed stock car racing and restoring old cars.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his mother, Ruth, of Aquebogue; his siblings, Edward, of Aquebogue, Stephen, of Tennessee and Diane Breitenbach of Aquebogue; his nieces and nephews, Melissa Elco, Emil Breitenbach Jr., Kyle Breitenbach and Candace Zurawski; and his grandnieces, Emma Freeborn and Madison Elco. He was predeceased by his father, Edward W. Zurawski Sr., and his son, Robert J. Zurawski Jr.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 24. Interment will follow at St. Isidore R.C. Cemetery in Riverhead.
