A Riverhead man was arrested Sunday for reportedly running a brothel in a Maple Avenue home, police said.
Adrian Figueroa, 43, of 320 Maple Avenue was charged with third-degree promoting prostitution and held overnight for arraignment.
The arrest came after police were told that a woman was being held against her will and forced into prostitution at that address. The officers responding found and detained two women, but determined they were there of their own volition. Several other people fled the house, police said.
Officers found Mr. Figueroa in a vehicle nearby and took him into custody based on a witness report that he was the operator of the prostitution business.
