SWR boys soccer snaps losing streak with win in Amityville

The Shoreham-Wading River High boys soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Amityville in a Suffolk County League VI game Friday afternoon.

Seniors Charles DeMaio and Greg Canellys scored goals for the Wildcats (6-4-1, 3-3-1), who won for the first time since a 3-1 triumph over Mt. Sinai on Sept. 21.

Amityville dropped to 4-3-1, 4-2-1.

DeMaio broke a scoreless tie with 2:25 remaining with a team-high seventh goal of the season in the first half before Canellys added an insurance goal with 15:14 left in the game.

The Wildcats need to win three of their final five games to clinch a Suffolk County playoff spot. Theyt visit Bayport-Blue  Point on Tuesday and host Mt. Sinai next Friday.
