Cops: Wading River man had prescription meds, no prescription

A Wading River man was arrested on a misdemeanor drug charge after he was caught with prescription medication during a traffic stop in Flanders Saturday morning, Southampton police said.

James Costello, 46, was stopped on Flanders Road about 10 a.m. for speeding, police said. During an investigation at the scene, an officer found he had prescription drugs without a prescription, according to a police report.

Mr. Costello was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and speeding, a violation. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due back in Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date.
