Frieda N. and Frank R. Kowalski

Frieda N. and Frank R. Kowalski of South Jamesport died less than a month apart, on Sept. 25 and Oct. 22, respectively. She was 82 and he was 83.

After his wife’s death, Mr. Kowalski moved to the John J. Foley Nursing Home in Yaphank. Family members said the couple had been very much in love, and Mr. Kowalski died of a broken heart.

Frieda Kowalski was born in South Jamesport May 1, 1930, to Julia (Stakey) and Herman Breitenbach. She had worked for the New York Telephone Company in Riverhead.

Frank Kowalski was born in Jamesport July 26, 1929, to Waleria (Nejelska) and Walter Kowalski. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953 and later worked for LILCO in Riverhead.

The couple is survived by their son, Gary, of South Jamesport. Also surviving are Ms. Kowalski’s brother, Ernest Breitenbach, and Mr. Kowalski’s brother, Walter, of Riverhead.

Visiting hours and services for Ms. Kowalski took place Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. She was interred at Calverton National Cemetery.

A graveside service for Mr. Kowalski was held Oct. 24, also at Calverton National Cemetery.
