Gail Kellar Grzymalski

Gail Kellar Grzymalski of Flanders passed away Oct. 31 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson.

She was born Jan. 16, 1947, to Marjorie (Freeman) and Herbert F. Kellar Sr. She worked most of her life with her sisters Carolyn, at J. Sauer Opticians, and Michele, at Pine Tree Day Nursery, both on Roanoke Avenue in Riverhead.

She is survived by her very devoted husband, Anthony (Tony) Grzymalski, and her sisters, Carolyn London, Kathryn Belby and Michelle Carr, all of Riverhead. She was predeceased by her brother, Herbert F. Kellar Jr. She also leaves behind three stepchildren, Robert Grzymalski, Denise Bergman and Lisa Cargill; five step-grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews.

According to family members, she loved family gatherings, Hawaii, gardening, hummingbirds and all animals. She will be remembered for her awesome homemade Christmas cookies and for being an amazingly caring and loving person to be around.

Visiting hours are set for Monday, Nov. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church, also in Riverhead. Burial will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
