Cops: Riverside man sold stolen RHS ring

A Riverside man was arrested Saturday for pawning a stolen Riverhead High School class ring at a pawn shop, Southampton police said.

Joe McCay, 65, was arrested on Vail Avenue after a police investigation found he had sold a 2008 class ring on a previous date, officials said.

The proceeds of the sale were not recovered, but police said they identified the sold ring by its distinctive markings: “2008 Chris ROTC 33.”

Mr. McCay was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to a police report.

He was processed and released with a future court date.
