Joseph G. Flaherty of Riverhead died Dec. 1 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 73.
He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Jackson Heights, N.Y., to Elizabeth (Burger) and Joseph T. Flaherty and served in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1960. He earned an MBA and worked as a bond salesman at Deutsche Bank on Wall Street.
Predeceased by his wife, Patricia Carberry, in 1989, and a granddaughter, he is survived by his daughters, Deirdre, of Switzerland, Christine Hausman of Minnesota and Amy Scherb of Florida; his sister, Dorothy Deegan of Atlanta; four grandchildren; and his close friend, Doris Stratmann of Riverhead.
Visiting hours took place Dec. 3 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, followed by a service at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, Father Larry Duncklee officiating. Interment was at Saint Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
