A man and woman have been arrested for robbing a man of $3,000 in cash last Sunday in a residential neighborhood near East Main Street in Riverhead, town police said.

Tywan Jones, 33, and Shawanna James, 40, both of Riverhead, are each facing second-degree robbery charges in connection with the incident, police said.

The alleged robbery — no weapons were reportedly used — occurred about 4 p.m. on Wilson Avenue, though it was not clear in a police report whether the incident happened indoors or outside.

The victim reported the matter to Riverhead Town police that same day, through a Spanish interpreter at police headquarters.

Town police on patrol arrested Mr. Jones on Philip Street last Tuesday in connection with the robbery, according to a police report. He was processed at police headquarters, arraigned and taken to be held at Suffolk County jail, police said.

The next day, Ms. James was arrested on Main Road in Jamesport for her alleged role in the crime, police said. She was processed and held for arraignment, police said.

No other details were available from police.
