Police: Three men raid gas station for snacks

Three men burst into the Shell Mart store on the Riverside traffic circle at about 4 a.m. and stole a bag of Combos, valued at $1.75; two Twix bars, valued at $1.25 total; and an unknown candy bar, according to a Southampton Town police report.

The attendant at the store told police that an unknown man knocked on the door of the store, but was denied entry. The man became irrational, but then left, police said.

He later came back with three other people, and the attendant allowed one of them to to enter the store. As the man left, three others entered the store, grabbed the snacks without paying and drove off in a car, heading south on County Road 104.

The getaway car was described as a black 2009 Honda CRV.

In an unrelated incident, an attendant at the Valero gas station on Peconic Avenue reported being punched in the face by a man he had told to leave the store last Thursday at 6:30 a.m. The attendant was not injured, but did wish to pursue charges, according to police.
