Police: Man broke into Riverside home, attacked resident

A Riverhead man was arrested for breaking into a house early Saturday and assaulting someone inside, Southampton Town police said.

Richard Walker, 37, of  J T Boulevard entered the Ludlam Avenue home in Riverside about 4:50 a.m., then punched the occupant several times in the head and face, causing serious injury, police said.

The victim was taken to  an unspecified hospital for treatment, officials said.

Mr. Walker was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breath or blood flow.
