John H. Robinson

John H. Robinson of South Jamesport died Jan. 12 in Warrenton, Va. He was 87.

Born May 20, 1925, in Southampton to Harold and Katherine Robinson, he graduated from Riverhead High School in 1942, then served in the U.S. Navy. He married Irene Trubisz in 1948 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead.

Mr. Robinson worked as an area supervisor for the Long Island Lighting Co. He was a lifelong member of the Riverhead Loyal Order of Elks, Lodge 2044, and St. John the Evangelist R.C. Parish and a 15-year member of Riverhead American Legion Post No. 0273. He enjoyed golf, gardening and boating.

Predeceased by his wife in 2012, he is survived by his son, John (Barbara), of Virginia; his brother, Donald Robinson, and sister Ann Pavalakis, both of Riverhead, and his sister Doris Hennessey of Clermont, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Katherine Christie, Lauren Robinson and John C. Robinson.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service will take place Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, Father Larry Duncklee officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
