Ollie Demchuk
Ollie Demchuk of Calverton died Jan. 18 at Peconic Bay Skilled Nursing Facility in Riverhead. He was 77 years old.
He was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Calverton to Ollie and Katherine (Golaski) Demchuk. He worked as a farmer and a corrections officer at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility for 25 years before retiring.
He loved traveling and tractors, family members said, and he was a member of the Long Island Antique Power Association.
He is survived by his sister, Eleanor A. Chomicki of East Quogue, and several generations of nieces and nephews.
The family received visitors Jan. 21 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass was held Jan. 22 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
