Edna L. Phelps

Edna L. Phelps of Riverhead died Jan. 27 at the age of 102.

She was born March 29, 1910, the daughter of Herbert and Anna (Horton) Booth, in Peconic, where she grew up and attended Southold schools.

She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and soap operas.

Ms. Phelps was predeceased by her husbands, Robert Carlough and Harold Phelps; her sisters Lottie, Cora, Muriel and Gertrude; and her grandson Robert Carlough. She is survived by her son, Robert Carlough Jr.; her daughter, Sandra Mulvaney of Calverton; her grandsons Gary and Richard Carlough of Blue Point and Matthew Mulvaney of Calverton; her great-granddaughter, Jessica Carlough of Blue Point; her sister Helen Booth of Peconic; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours took place Jan. 29 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a service was held Jan. 30. Pastor Stan Knavel of Baiting Hollow Congregational Church officiated. Interment followed at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
