To the Editor:

This morning I called the Riverhead highway department to ask that a tree by the side of the road be removed. It was partially uprooted and was in danger of falling into the road.

By 1 p.m. I received a call back, with the information that they would put me on their list. About 15 minutes later, the crew was there and as I sit here, at 2:30 p.m., the tree and all the debris associated with it is completely gone.

Last summer a tree fell on my street once again during the night. The crew was here by 8 a.m. and the tree was gone by 9 a.m.!

They also did a great cleanup following Sandy. I just would like to commend the highway.

Nancy Byrnes, Riverhead
