William Blanchard

William Blanchard of New Suffolk died Feb. 4, 2013, at his home. He was 66 years old.

Born April 23, 1946, in New York City to William Harold and Mary Angela (Fernandes) Blanchard, he served in the United States Army for two years as a sergeant and later with the Coast Guard Reserve for 10 years.

Bill was the owner of William Blanchard & Son, a painting and decorating firm that he operated with his son, William Blanchard Jr.

A 42-year resident of the North Fork, he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish.

Surviving are his wife, Rosemarie (née Liquori), whom he married in 1963; three children, William Jr., of Southold, Nancy McCarvill of New Suffolk and Lori Smith of Mattituck; and five grandchildren, Megan and Kelley Blanchard, Alysha and Cameron Smith and Jonathan McCarvill.

The family received friends Feb. 6 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 7 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church by Father Kenneth Hand. Interment was at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery.
