Featured Letter: $10K in scholarships available in memory of Heidi Behr

Polish Hall for Heidi

NEWS-REVIEW FILE PHOTO | Heidi’s Helping Angels holds its chief scholarship fundraiser in memory of Heidi Behr every year at Polish Hall in Riverhead.

To the Editor:

I would like to inform you and the public that Heidi’s Helping Angels will be awarding $10,000 in the form of five $2,000 scholarships to deserving graduating students from Riverhead and McGann-Mercy high schools.

These scholarships will be awarded on scholastic achievements and community involvement. Heidi Behr was a giving person who sought out those in need. In doing so, she gave her life in a tragic ambulance crash in May 2005.

All interested seniors at the two schools should contact their guidance counselor for an application and guidance filling out the forms.

Thank you to all who contributed to the scholarship fund in Heidi’s memory.

She was a true hero to the town.

Jim Stark, Riverhead
