Lillian “Sherrill” Burns

Lillian “Sherrill” Burns of Riverhead died Feb. 18 at age 87.

She was born April 22, 1925, to Rutherford and Lydia (Jackson) Inglee and earned an associate degree. She married Harold E. Burns and was a homemaker for most of her adult life.

Predeceased by her husband in 2003, Ms. Burns is survived by her children, Jeffrey, of Flanders, Steven, of South Jamesport, Susan Hubbard of Aquebogue and Nancy Repp of Westhampton; her sister, Carol Pulvermacher of Mineola; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a service will take place Thursday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Sean Murray of First Congregational Church of Riverhead officiating. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
