A homeless woman was arrested Saturday morning after she refused to leave the emergency room at a local hospital and fought the cops who tried to remove her, Riverhead Town police said.

Jennifer Sulzer, 37, was trespassing at the emergency room of Peconic Bay Medical Center about 9:45 a.m., according to a police report.

Riverhead police arrived at the scene and told Ms. Sulzer to leave the hospital, but she refused. When police tried to arrest Ms. Sulzer for trespassing she fought with the officers, police said. She was eventually arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Ms. Sulzer was arraigned on trespassing and resisting arrest charges and held at Suffolk County jail on $500 bail, police said.
