Cops: Stolen laptop leads to third arrest in a year

A Riverhead man already facing drug and trespassing charges was arrested Tuesday when he was caught with a stolen laptop, police said.

Shaun Pritchard, 24, was arrested on Osborne Avenue in Riverhead about 12:40 p.m., according to a police report. He was caught with an Apple laptop that was reported stolen, police said.

Mr. Pritchard was taken to police headquarters and charged with criminal possession of stolen property. He was arraigned and turned over to Southampton Town police to face a burglary charge in connection with the stolen computer, police said.

This was not Mr. Pritchard’s first run-in with police. Last March, he was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and in July he was charged with trespassing after he was found on the porch of a house he was told to stay away from.

Both those cases are still pending, authorities said.
