Angela Raso

Angela Raso of Southold died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at her home. She was 94 years old.

She was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Dominic and Lena Tralongo and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Brooklyn.

Angela Tralongo married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph Raso, on April 29, 1939, in Brooklyn and they were married for 70 years before his passing in 2009.

She was an avid painter and exhibitor with the Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild in Cutchogue and, for several years, painted with the local Peconic “Tuesday Group.”

She was known as an excellent seamstress and cook. For years, Angela was an active member and past-president of the Rosary Altar Society and a daily church attendant at St. Patrick R.C. Church in Southold.

She will be remembered as a multi-talented individual, doting grandmother and loyal and caring friend — or as Mrs. Raso, the strict teacher’s aide in Southold School. Her children will remember her as a strong and loving parent who will be missed immensely.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, Angela was predeceased by her children Joanne, in 1952, and Peter, in 2010. She is survived by her children Paul, of Brooklyn, Mary Peabody of Wareham, Mass., and Jeanne Fallot of Riverhead; a sister, Francesca LoPresti of Southold; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two nieces, Regina Martin of Cutchogue and Sister Mary Jocelyn of Islip; and a nephew, Leonard Green of Cutchogue.

The family received friends March 26 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 27, at St. Patrick R.C. Church by Father Peter Garry. Interment will be at St. Charles R.C. Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Memorials to St. Patrick R.C. Church, P.O. Box 1117, Southold, N.Y. 11971 would be appreciated.
