Blog Recap: Board approves permit for gym

BARBARAELLEN KOCH FILE PHOTO | The former Woolworth building on East Main Street has been largely empty since the old five-and-dime chain closed in 1997.

The Riverhead Town Board approved a resolution Tuesday granting a special permit for the proposed renovations of the former Woolworth property on Main Street to allow a gym on the ground floor.

The board will also approved a grant a clearing permit for the new Costco shopping center on the north side of Route 58, across from Riverhead Raceway.
