Grace L. Nelson

Grace L. Nelson of Riverhead died March 30 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 87 years old.

She was born May 9, 1925, in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a housekeeper.

Family members said she was fond of cooking and telling stories and enjoyed spending time at the Southampton Senior Center.

Predeceased by her daughter Barbara Ann Briscoe, Ms. Nelson is survived by her daughter Debbie, of Newark, Del.; her grandson and caregiver, Leroy Briscoe; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private cremation will be followed by memorial visiting hours Saturday, April 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
